    Li Ang's Literary Work Microfilm Contest

       2023【Call for Submissions: International Student Category】

     


    This award encourages participants to incorporate cross-generational perspectives and creativity into literature by creating short films in the form of micro movies. Through the medium of visual storytelling, these films will deepen the audience’s understanding of Li Ang's works and gain insights into Taiwanese literature.

     

    ■ Themes

    Contestants should use Li Ang's works, or any subjects aligned with her core writing focuses, as the theme of their microfilms, such as human rights, social and gender issues, female consciousness, food, ghosts, travel, detective stories, etc.

     

    ■ Contestants Eligibility

    International students who currently study in colleges or universities outside of Taiwan.

    Contestants may apply as an individuals or as a group.

    Orientation: Landscape (horizontal)
    Resolution: 1920×1080 (1080p)
    Format: MP4
    Length: 2 to 10 minutes

     

    ❒ Best microfilms:Cash prize US$200, two awardees.

           *The cash prize for winners is subject to taxation according to Taiwan tax laws. 

    ※ The judges reserve the right to adjust the number of awards, withhold awards, or modify the prize amounts based on the quality of the submitted film entries.

        Announcement will be made before November 10, 2023 (Wed.) .

     

     Announcement of Results

    The announcement will be posted on both Li Ang Museum’s and ARCHS’s websites and Facebook Fan Pages.
    Winners will also receive a notification via email.

    ■ How to Submit Films 

    【Online submission】

     

    Step 1.

    Clink on the link (Google Drive) https://reurl.cc/4Q2XmX to download the Entry Form and other forms. Read, fill out and sign the forms. 

    Step2.

    Upload your film, subtitles in SubRip format (SRT), Entry Form, student identification, and a scanned copy of the signed “Copyright Authorization Agreement” to your personal cloud storage.

    After uploading the aforementioned files, click “share” to obtain the URL link and select “anyone with the link can view.” Please paste the link in the online registration form for the Organizers to access your uploaded files.

     Contest Rules

    • Films which have previously won other competitions may not be submitted, nor can the submission be entered in multiple competitions simultaneously. Films found to be in violation of this rule will be disqualified.
    • Participating entries must be entirely original and not plagiarized. If a third party raises objections to the artwork’s legality such as violation of copyright or portrait right, and if found to be true after investigation, the Organizers will disqualify the contestant and request for return of any awarded prizes. In addition, the contestant will be fully responsible for any and all legal consequences of the violations and will indemnify the Organizers from any and all damages as a result of contestant’s violations.
    • The Organizers retain the rights for online dissemination of all submitted entries and are entitled to publish them on relevant digital platforms and websites. By participating, contestants agree to grant the Organizers the non-exclusive right to use their submitted works, free of charge, for promotional purposes, public screenings, and other related events and activities, without limit on place, time, and number of uses. 
    • The Organizers will notify contestants who fail to follow all the listed requirements and give them a deadline to make rectifications. Contestants who fail to make the required rectifications by the said deadline will be deemed as forfeiting their right to contest.
    • Contestants’ registration for the event is deemed as agreeing to abide by the contest’s rules and all requirements, as well as respecting the evaluation of the judges with no objections. Award winners will be determined based on the quality of the submitted film entries, and the judges reserve the right to withhold awards where entries are deemed to be of insufficient merit.

     

    【Please Note】

    • After receiving the registration forms from contestants, the Organizers will use the email addresses provided by the contestants as the main contact method. Contestants should therefore ensure that the email addresses they provide are correct. 
    • The Organizers will upload the submitted microfilms to the YouTube media platform for the judges to watch. Therefore, the films are subject to YouTube’s video Guidelines & Policies. Contestants must ensure their submitted films conform to YouTube video Guidelines and Policies. 
    • The submitted films must not include explicit content, pornography, nudity, violence, defamation, personal abuse, depictions of killing, political controversies, indecent subjects, or any content that contradicts relevant laws and regulations.
